I know this is a little late, but this year is getting off to a good start. I ran/walked my first 5K in 22 years! After my accident, the Marine Corps tried to act like I was back to 100%, so they had me doing my Fitness Tests. Before my accident, I ran 3 miles in 17 and a half minutes. Enough for a perfect 100 points. After my accident, I have balance issues and was unable to run it. I failed, because my max allotted time was 28 minutes, and I would come in about 30 or so. I stopped trying to run for a long time, so I decided as a New Year's resolution that I would participate in at least one race a month. My first one was the Liquidation 5K that they used to get rid of all the old awards and prizes from past races. It was held at the Douglas County firing range. In the middle of it was an obstacle course that the firefighters use. Racers were supposed to do one obstacle per lap(2), but I tried about 3 each time. Reminded me of my glory days in the Marines. I wonder if I can go and use the obstacle course some other time on my own! :D Anyway, I was proud that I didn't stop once. I walked, jogged, walked but I didn't stop. My time was55 minutes 35 seconds! I plan on lowering that time next time, and the next.
Jean Joachim and my second book Dangerous Love Lost and Found is now out in paperback. I am extremely happy and blessed to have two books out and am always grateful for Jean's faith in me. Working with her has been great and I am so fortunate for her taking the chance on an unknown.
I hope everyone else had a great New Year. Leave a comment and tell me about it.
Ben
